My wife yells this at me every single day when she gets the spoons out of the dishwasher. You’d think I’d make sure that two spoons were never in the same compartment at the same time… But I don’t
My 4 year old’s quotes and stories are not the only thing I’ve been keeping track of over the last few years. I’ve also been writing down some pretty interesting stuff said by my wife.
She’s a strong, bold, passionate woman that has never been accused of holding her tongue. At the same time she’s sweet, generous and incredibly selfless.
All that being said, she says some really great stuff… and she swears… a lot. (Sorry) She has a habit of saying the same things over and over and over… every single day (She says that she has to do this because I never listen to her. I disagree, but it makes for some funny conversations). So, anyway, I decided to start doing quick little sketches of these daily musings. Here are just a few.
First drawing - The Dog Hair drawing happens every single day. And for some reason it’s my fault. She also thinks the dog understands her when she says it and gets even madder at her when he doesn’t try to remedy the situation.
A 4-year-old only child and sharing. Those two things don’t generally go hand in hand. It’s been a pretty constant subject in the Spaghetti house lately. Harper normally does “okay”, but she definitely has her moments when we’re around other children. Recently she had one of those moments and it was hard on everyone. There was yelling, crying and learning… by mother, father and child. After everyone regained their composure, Harper walked up to me and said: “Dad, I’ll share my heart with you if you share your heart with me.
I’m pretty sure we’ve all been here before. Kristen Spector from Fairfax, VA. said this quote when she was a little girl and asked me to interpret her youthful thoughts into a print to hang up in her parent’s kitchen. Obviously, I loved this idea! Thanks Kristen, Oh, and I’m pretty sure you just made everyone here super hungry for a cupcake!
I was recently asked by Molly Cantrell of Columbia Station, OH. to create a print for her and her lovely family. She didn’t quite know what she wanted but she knew she wanted her entire family represented in a fun and playful way. She told me that her son Issac loved his little owl and that he always talked of the “plane in the tree” that he saw once (a toy plane). She told me that her daughter Kate loved her purple sunglasses, kisses and to tell people “I like your face”. Her husband Keith is a fun and playful dad and loves superheroes. I thought long and hard and decided to do my first Family Tree print and filled it with this awesome family and everything that they love. Thanks so much Cantrell Family!
Zhenna Thompson from Sudbury, MA. asked me if I would do a 3-panel print for her and her beautiful little girl Isla, who is just a little bit in love with mermaids. I happen to know another little girl that is a bit enamored with mermaids so this was an absolute joy to work on. Each of these sections are an individual print and all 3 are individually framed and then hung together. Zhenna and her family have been very good to the Spaghetti Family, so this one has special meaning all the way around. Thanks Z!
This quote comes from Wyndi Rejniak of Seattle, Washington and her son. I’m pretty sure every single parent ever can relate. Here’s the story straight from mom: My son is 2.5 and loves riding bikes with dad. Dad built a dirt bike track in backyard (a small one) for the kiddo. Most days at home start with this…. “Dad! Wanna ride bikes with me? Want to? Wanna ride your bike? Let’s ride bikes. Get your bike dad! ”
